View PDF I plan to introduce legislation to create the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Commission. This commission will promote the study of Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
Triple negative breast cancer accounts for approximately 15% of all breast cancer cases. Because it is a recently recognized form of breast cancer, there is very little known about its pathology. Thus, there is an urgent need for targeted research and better treatment options for this disease.
It is only in the last few years that professionals studying breast cancer have concluded that breast cancer is not one disease, but many different forms of cancer all originating in the breast. Depending on its stage of diagnosis, triple negative breast cancer can be extremely aggressive and more likely to recur than other subtypes of breast cancer. Although it can be more difficult to treat because it is unresponsive to the most effective receptor targeted treatments. On a positive note, this type of breast cancer is typically responsive to chemotherapy.
The purpose of the commission is to gain a better understanding of why Triple Negative Breast Cancer is more prevalent among women who are African American, Hispanic, under age 40 and living in lower socioeconomic conditions. Requirements for the appointment of Commission members, the Commission’s organization and the order of business will be set by the Director of Health. The Director of health shall appoint individuals who are familiar with Triple Negative Breast Cancer, including healthcare professionals and individuals who have been personally affected by the disease. The duration of the commission will also be left to the Director’s discretion.
I will be introducing legislation that would eradicate nuisance properties within 1,000 feet of school buildings.
I need your support, please contact your Ohio State Representative to support this legislation.
