Obama Starts off on the Right Foot On his initial visit to Ohio as a presidential candidate, Barack Obama lived up to every bit of his advance billing as the Democratic Party's most seductive suitor since that chatty guy burst out of Little Rock when Bush 41 was in the White House. The dashing, young senator from Illinois cut a path from Cincinnati to Cleveland, pocketing enough money to sign a journeyman infielder and wowing veteran politicians who know a star when they see one. Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman gave the new kid two thumbs up: "Inspirational!"	The Republicans Have Changed Their Tune Over the years, Republicans have held hearings on Bill Clinton’s Christmas card list and called for answers on Socks the Cat’s fan mail. Hate is Not an American Value Last night, House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers introduced the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act (LLEHCPA), a bipartisan bill that would extend the definition of hate crimes to include violence against a person because of his or her sexual orientation or gender identity, and provide local law enforcement agencies the resources to combat hate crimes.
